The perfect man?

The perfect man!

OK ladies listen up! According to a new survey from Europcar, apparently the perfect man who we all want so desperately to meet has to be able to change a tyre. Forget kindness, honesty, integrity and decent morals, it’s all about the pit stop.
Now, call me a quaint old traditionalist but two things immediately spring to mind on hearing this amazing non-revelation.

Firstly, with one notable exception (I am too discreet to reveal his identity) I have never met a man who is unable to jack up a car and change a tyre. Secondly, it may not be my favourite thing to do of a morning, but I am, like most women, actually quite capable of changing my own tyre.
I am not sure I would immediately put this task or ‘quality’ at the top of my list of must-haves.

Now, the survey gets better because apparently 22 per cent of women questioned would see the perfect man driving a convertible. My ex husband had one until recently so that is total nonsense. Only 3 per cent of women ( who ARE these women?) say their perfect man would drive an estate car, and a whopping 43 per cent said they would want a man who would fill their car with fuel! I know the survey is commissioned by a car hire firm so the info is skewed, but really!? Buy your own petrol!

And the best ever car journey? A trip along the Amalfi Coast in a…you guessed it! Convertible! Second choice however was a trip in a luxury saloon in the Scottish Highlands!

So if we are going down this road (see what I did there!) of motoring related statistics and desires, my perfect man would ride a Harley, let me jump on the back and have no qualms about popping to Tesco Express for emergency tampons, Pinot or chocolate at 10.15pm. Oh he already does! Sorry almost forgot that I am smugly married these days!

The survey also points out that 54 per cent of us want a man who brings us tea in bed-only 54 per cent! Have you ALL lost your mind? We ALL want tea in bed don’t we? Oh and 50 per cent want a man who can iron his own shirts. I refer you to my previous comment.

Ken McCall, the MD of Europcar UK group said: “It appears that today’s women want the perfect balance of James Bond jet set style and sophistication combined with practicality and sensitivity. Most agree the perfect man should drive a convertible that says luxury without being flashy.”

Apparently, hiring one of their prestige motors might help make the right impression on a dream date. NOT if he turns up for date 2 in a clapped out old banger it won’t!
